Sebo Marketing has recently joined XANT, along with other Utah companies, in supporting the Boy Scouts of America.

In order to help the Utah National Parks Council reach a broader audience on the web, Bruce Rowe, the President of Sebo Marketing, agreed to review and optimize the council’s blog at no charge. Rowe quickly identified some ways to improve the blog’s visibility in search engines, and also used the opportunity to teach some valuable optimization techniques.

In addition to coding a new blog design, Sebo donated time with their top blog optimization experts to train members of the Council’s staff on best practices.

Why all the extra time and effort? Because the Boy Scouts hold a special place in Rowe’s life. As an Eagle Scout and a Scoutmaster of Troop 213 in Heber City, Utah, Rowe says that scouting has positively impacted the lives of many of his employees and their families.

“We think that happiness and peace can only come when communities are flourishing, and that requires us to look beyond ourselves,” he says. “Our employees strive to live our lives with purpose, and service to others is a critical part of our purpose.”

Ken Krogue, XANT president and founder, feels the same way. That’s why XANT’s Do Good Foundation contributes 1% of its revenue, 1% of its employees’ time, and 1% of its products to the Boy Scouts organization and encourages other companies to do the same.

The program is inspired by Salesforce.com CEO Marc Benioff’s 1/1/1 model of corporate giving. As a result of implementing this program at XANT, employees have volunteered their time to help the Utah National Parks Council with setting up hosting for the Scouts’ blog.

XANT employees also recruited Stephen Hales Creative, an award-winning design firm in Provo, to design an email newsletter template for the council and trained the council’s staff on how to use the blog effectively.

“The Boy Scouts instills important values in our nation’s young men,” Krogue says. “Our company is pleased to support such a worthy organization that has improved so many lives.”
