Hint: It isn’t South by Southwest (SXSW). While thousands of music aficionados, film buffs and techno-geeks have descended upon Austin, Texas, a forward-thinking, high-growth technology company in Utah has been quietly plotting the world’s largest virtual event for sales and marketing professionals. The company is XANT and the event is called the Sales Acceleration Summit. It will be held on March 13, and you can register right here: Sign up for summit. Full disclosure – I am the CMO of the company.
In any case, while this business event won’t highlight the musical talents of 50 cent, Aloe Blacc or Ingrid Michaelson, it will feature some of the best sales, marketing and motivational speakers on the planet – and, oh yeah, did I mention it was free? That’s right, more than 80 speakers and best-selling authors, including Steve Young, Matt Dixon, Brian Tracy, Jeffrey Gitomer and Keith Ferrazzi will be featured in crisp, easily digestible 15-minute sessions, and it is all absolutely free.
Last year, the event had more than 15,000 participants, and this year the projections are for 20,000 attendees – all consuming hours of amazing sales and marketing content from anywhere they can connect to the Internet. Not only does this make the content easier to enjoy, it makes the delivery of the entire show incredibly eco-friendly. Absolutely no planes, trains or automobiles … just you and your PC, tablet or smartphone. In fact, if you prefer to hang in your PJ’s, then go for it. If you want to enjoy a cold, frosty beverage while learning how to perform sales kung fu, then feel free to do so.
The Sales Acceleration Summit represents a new world order for producing and participating in world-class events. I’m not suggesting that live events featuring world-class talent like SXSW presents every year are going away. I am suggesting that virtual events are easier to create, deliver and participate in — so the barriers to entry are lower for all involved.
