SILICON SLOPES, UT – July 14, 2015 — XANT, a leading provider of sales acceleration software, will conduct its first ever Coding Camp for girls. The four day camp will provide hands on instruction and teaching on how to code, and is part of InsideSales’ commitment to encourage more women to enter the field of technology, specifically coding, which XANT relies heavily upon for its services. When: 8:30-3 PM, July 14 through Friday, July 17 for girls age 7-14. Where: InsideSales’ Corporate Office 1712 South East Bay Boulevard, Building E Provo, Utah The initiative lines up with Utah Governor Gary Herbert’s call for a statewide push to educate and recruit people in STEM fields. It is an all day camp with instruction from XANT employees, and outside activities and lessons from code.org. Attendees will also use Scratch, a system developed by MIT that allows new coders to create stories and games to learn the basics of coding. Media representatives are invited to attend any of the four days of the camp. Interviews will be available with camp directors and other executives upon request. Rather than simply separating campers by age, campers will take a brief assessment to determine their skill level. The campers will then be broken up into two groups to better aid in their growing skills. Each group will participate in logic puzzles and coding lessons as well as outdoor activities to stimulate their minds. Mentors from XANT will guide the campers through the week in developing and creating a final project, which they’ll present at the end of the week to all participants. The first annual Coding Camp is comprised of children of XANT employees as a pilot, but will be open to the public in the future. XANT recently partnered with University of Utah, Utah Valley University and Brigham Young University to provide four scholarships for the upcoming school year to students studying computer technology. Scholarship recipients will also be given an internship during the summer of 2016, where they will take part in the planning and execution of next year’s Girl’s Coding Camp.
